Cougar Soccer drops season opener
By Brian Curtis - St. Paul, MN
The University of Minnesota-Morris soccer team opened the 2004 season on the road Wednesday and Macalester College handed UMM a 3-0 loss.
Last year, the Cougars recorded nine shut outs, but this time the Scots kept Minnesota-Morris of the scoreboard.
Macalester scored twice in the first half, the first goal coming just over four minutes into the game, and led 2-0 at the half. They would add the third goal early in the second half for the 3-0 win.
The Scot's defense not only kept the Cougars off the board, but held UMM to just one shot.
Minnesota-Morris continues the road venture this Labor Day holiday weekend when they take on Saint Mary's University in Winona, Saturday September 4 at 11:30 a.m. and then on Monday, the Cougars are in Aurora, Illinois to take on Aurora University at 1:00.
The Cougars will host the sixth annual Cougar Classic next weekend, September 10-12.
