C-G-B Falls to C-T-F in Four Games
By Craig Olson - Campbell, MN
Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley fell to Campbell-Tintah-Fairmount in high school volleyball on Monday night, losing in four games. Game scores were 27-25, 25-16, 18-25, 25-18.
"Game one was really close, with neither team having more than a three point advantage anytime during the game," said C-G-B head coach Kristi Moberg. "In game two they were able to get two serving runs on us to put the game away. We did a nice job of bouncing back in game three and worked hard to set up our offense. I thought our girls did a nice job of setting up the ball. Our hitters had a lot more swings at the ball tonight than in recent games which shows we were more aggressive, plus our passers and setters did a nice job of controlling the ball. I also though our blocking was strong."
Gloria Stotesbery had 10 kills, 11 pass assists and was 17 for 17 with 2 aces from the serving line. Kearina Maher had 10 kills and 4 ace blocks, Renee Kleindl added 4 blocks, Marissa Strobel had 5 kills and was 13 for 13 serving and Carrie Athey (30/30, 6 assists), Christa Powlish (29/29, 9 assists) and Amanda Homan (32/32, 6 assists) had excellent passing nights.
The Wolverines are now 1-11 and 0-3 in conference play. They will travel to Wheaton on Thursday for their next match.
