The Lady Owls traveled to Underwood on Saturday to participate in the Underwood Shootout. In the opening round, Hancock defeated Campbell-Tintah-Fairmount by a score of 72-42.
"We couldn't throw the ball in the ocean for the first four minutes, but went on a nice run the final four minutes of the first half to take a 38-28 lead," said Hancock Head Coach Jodi Holleman. "In the second half, the girls finally settled down and played Hancock style basketball. The girls did a great job of crashing the boards and only committed eight turnovers on the night. It was great to have four players in double figures."
Bree Holleman led the scoring with 22 points and also had 9 rebounds, 3 steals and 5 assists. Tara Thielke finished with 16 points, 11 boards, 9 steals and 3 assists. Jenny Noordmans scred 12 points, grabbed 8 rebounds, dished out 9 assists and came up with 6 steals, and Stacie Cunningham added 10 points. Chelsea Voorhees had a solid floor game with 4 rebounds and 5 steals.
"Kelsey Olson, Shaina Cramlet, and Lindsie Cunningham came off the bench and played some outstanding basketball for us," stated Holleman.
The Owls travel back to Underwood on Tuesday to play Park Christian School and play their final game of the Holiday Shootout on Thursday against Ashby. Both games begin at 7:30 p.m.
