The Hancock girls basketball team recorded their tenth win of the season on Monday night when they handled Campbell-Tintah-Fairmount 62-33 on the Owls home floor.
Hancock took a 24-14 lead at the half and doubled up the Rebels in the second half, 38-19. The Owls made 45.6% (26/57) of their shots from the floor.
"We got off to a slow start offensively, but picked it up a notch defensively to hold them to fourteen in the first half," said Head Coach Jodi Holleman of Hancock. "Our goal was to double team junior standout Sami Schmit all night long and keep her off the boards. The girls did a great job and held her to two points in the first half and eight in the second half."
Bree Holleman scored a team high sixteen points for the Owls, followed by Tara Thielke with 13, Jenny Noordmans with 12 and Chelsea Voorhees with 11. Noordmans led the team on the boards with 7 rebounds, Holleman distributed six assists and Lindsie Cunningham had 7 steals, 3 rebounds and 2 assists.
"The girls got the offense going in the second half and it was great to have four players in double figures again," added Coach Holleman. "Hannah Newhouse came into the game and played some excellent bsketball in the opening half."
Hancock is now 10-1 overall and 3-0 in the Pheasant Conference.
