Cougar menís basketball opens season with thrilling 70-68 overtime road win.

Paul Grove earned his first victory as head coach as the University of Minnesota, Morris menís basketball team defeated Martin Luther College in overtime as the Cougars rallied from a 12 point deficit in the second half for a 70-68 overtime win in New Ulm. Last year UMM defeated MLC 100-99 in double overtime at the UMM P.E Center.
UMM shot 47% from the field in the second half, 37% from down town and shot 39.7% for the game.
For the Cougars Eric Rohy and Adam Girtman each had 14 points, Jon Lang added 13. Girtman just missed a triple double as he had team high nine rebounds and seven assists in 41 minutes.
Minnesota, Morris also got great bench play out scoring MLC 29-12 and won the rebounding battle, 48-42, with 18 offensive rebounds. The Cougars also only committed 13 turnovers in the game.
