The Wheaton/Herman-Norcross volleyball team claimed the championship on Thursday at the 31st Annual Underwood Volleyball Invitational, beating Sebeka 2-1 (20-25, 25-23, 15-13) in the title match.
Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg claimed third place with a 2-0 victory over Underwood 2-0 (25-18, 25-22). Fifth place went to Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart with a 2-0 (25-23, 25-21) win over Verndale. Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley defeated Menahga 2-1 (25-23, 21-25, 15-11) to finish seventh.
The Warriors beat Verndale 2-1 (25-22, 19-25, 15-8) and K-M-S 2-0 (25-20, 25-19) in their pool. In bracket play, W/H-N defeated Menahga 2-0 before claiming the championship with the win over Sebeka.
The Saints opened with a 2-0 over Menahga and a 2-0 loss to the Warriors. K-M-S bounced back to beat both Verndale and Underwood 2-0 in bracket action.
The Wolverines lost their first three matches to Sebeka, Underwood and Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart by 2-0 scores. C-G-B ended the day on a higher note by defeating Menahga in its final match.
