Warriors Start Quickly, Roll Over Hillcrest

Wheaton/Herman-Norcross jumped out to a 26-0 halftime lead and went on to post a 38-14 victory over Hillcrest Lutheran Academy Wednesday night in Fergus Falls.

The Warriors compiled 572 yards of offense, including 401 rushing yards.  They were led by Mason Deal (25 carries, 203 yards) and Paul Berger (22 carries, 153 yards, 2 TDs).  Braden Krump caught three passes for 101 yards and a score and Brad Dahlen caught two touchdown passes for a total of 32 yards.

Hillcrest was led by Reggie Undseth who ran for 75 yards on 10 carries and caught two passes for 30 yards.  Chris Tungseth (4-52), Jared Christenson (4-51) and Nathan Christenson (4-46) were the leading receivers for the Comets.  Jake Isaac completed 18-of-33 passes for 216 yards and one touchdown.  The Comets had 405 total yards, with 189 rushing yards and 216 yards passing.

Wheaton/Herman-Norcross scored with 5:05 left in the first quarter on a nine-yard run by Berger.  The Warriors scored again just 23 seconds into the second quarter on a Jacob Hasbargen pass to Krump from 60 yards out and added a touchdown with 2:28 left in the half when Berger ran the ball in from the five yard line and then added the two-point conversion to put the score at 20-0.  Hasbargen hit Dahlen from 18 yards out to put the halftime spread at 26-0.

In the second half the Warriors extended their lead to 32-0 when Hasbargen and Dahlen hooked up on a 14- yard pass play. 

Isaac hit Tungseth from 20 yards out with 5:51 remaining in the third to get Hillcrest on the board.  Jordan Foss booted the extra-point. 

Hasbargen tacked on a nine-yard run for W/H-N with just under two minutes to play in the third quarter.

HLA scored the final touchdown of the game on a 19-yard run by Undseth with 6:24 left on the clock.  Foss added the PAT to make the final score 38-14.
